GAIA: Predictive Wearables To Prevent Falls
GAIA is the culmination of a research project involving injury prevention for seniors. We were tasked to use a variety of research methods to gather data with the goal of proposing a design solution. To guide my research, I used a methodology called, “D.E.E.P.” This stands for Discover - Empower - Engage - Participate.
After several brainstorming sessions, literature reviews, and case studies, I proposed GAIA - a framework through which predictive wearables can be based. The GAIA framework calls for the various roles of design i.e. industrial, graphic, and fashion to collaboratively develop wearables capable of predictive falls before they happen.
